Bishkek, June 12, 2026 /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Sultan Akhmatov is participating in the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, which is taking place on June 11-12 in the capital of Mongolia.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the meeting is an important step in preparation for the 25th CAREC Ministerial Conference, which will be held in September 2026 to mark the program's 25th anniversary.
During the meeting, participants will discuss the implementation of decisions made at the 2025 CAREC Ministerial Conference in Bishkek and enshrined in relevant bilateral and multilateral documents. The focus will also be on new initiatives in transport and digital connectivity, trade, tourism, energy security, the development of critical mineral value chains, and the implementation of innovative financing mechanisms.
Particular attention at this meeting will be given to the program's development prospects beyond 2030. Against the backdrop of global instability, climate challenges, and accelerating digital transformation, countries in the region are formulating a new vision for cooperation aimed at strengthening regional integration, attracting investment, and creating sustainable sources of economic growth.
Kyrgyz Republic's participation in the meeting confirms its active role in advancing the regional agenda and its willingness to facilitate the implementation of practical initiatives aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, strengthening economic cooperation, and ensuring sustainable development in the CAREC region. This work is being carried out in accordance with national interests and the priorities enshrined in the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic to 2030.
