Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2025 /Kabar/. On September 25, Azamat Sakiev, General Director of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state company, conducted a working visit to railway construction sites in the Jalal-Abad and Naryn regions.

According to the company's press service, during the visit, a detailed inspection of a section of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway subcontracted to the State Enterprise "Moststroitelny Otryad" was conducted.

Excavation work has begun on this section, near the Makmal transfer station, a construction camp is being set up, and preparatory work for installing culverts, constructing bridges, and other organizational activities is underway.

Azamat Sakiev noted that engaging a domestic contractor is crucial for strengthening the competencies of national specialists through participation in the construction of this large-scale infrastructure project.

Makmal transfer station is a key facility in the project. It is planned to organize loading and unloading operations, warehouses, and auxiliary infrastructure facilities here, including access roads, equipment storage areas, and service centers.

The head of the company then inspected the progress of construction of the Balykchy-Kochkor railway line, specifically from km 38 to km 60 in the Kochkor district of the Naryn region. Construction is being carried out around the clock in two shifts.

The planned connection of the north and south of the republic by rail as part of the Balykchy-Kochkor and Kochkor-Kara-Keche-Makmal projects, with subsequent connection to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, will not only create a unified domestic rail network but also facilitate the transit of freight through Kyrgyzstan on the route Europe-China-Asia Pacific countries and in the opposite direction.

Completion of the Balykchy-Kochkor railway is scheduled for the second half of 2026, the the company reports.
