Kyrgyzstan participates at Asian women's forum in Bukhara

Bishkek, May 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Deputy Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Zhyldyz Taalaibek kyzy and Member of Parliament Erkeayim Seitkazieva participated in the 2nd Asian Women's Forum "Investing in Women - the Foundation for Sustainable Growth: Expanding Political, Economic, Social, and Environmental Opportunities for Women" in Bukhara.

According to the press service of Kyrgyz Parliament, in her opening speech, Jyldyz Taalaibek kyzy recalled that the first Asian Women's Forum, held in Samarkand in 2024, laid the foundation for advancing issues related to women's empowerment. She emphasized that Kyrgyzstan firmly supports and shares the values ​​set forth in all international gender-related documents, including the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Furthermore, Jyldyz Taalaibek kyzy noted that Kyrgyzstan initiated the standing UN Human Rights Council resolution "Strengthening Efforts to Achieve Women's Economic Empowerment," adopted unanimously last summer in Geneva.

"Kyrgyzstan believes that women's economic empowerment is not only a matter of social justice but also a key factor in inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development," she noted. MP Erkeayim Seitkazieva spoke at the first panel session, "Current Issues of Expanding Women's Participation in Public and State Governance and Political Decision-Making."

"The topic of expanding women's participation in public administration and political decision-making is not just relevant today, but strategically important for the sustainable development of the state," she emphasized, and briefly discussed the reform of Kyrgyzstan's electoral legislation and systemic changes in the civil service, taking into account gender balance.

Following the II Asian Women's Forum, the Bukhara Declaration was adopted, aimed at strengthening the role of women in education, science, politics, economics, and public life in the Asian region, as well as promoting mutually beneficial cooperation.
