Bishkek celebrates UN Convention Day on Rights of Child

Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2025. /Kabar/. In the lead-up to the 36th anniversary of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the "Ene Uyu" (Mother's House) Resource Center held a thematic event under the slogan: "A Child's Happiness Lies in Mother's Love and Family Care."

The center's director, Nazgul Turdubekova, noted that the "Mother's House" model has been recognized by UN as a flagship practice. According to her, this approach has proven effective in preventing the separation of mothers from their children and reducing the placement of children in residential institutions.

Kyrgyz Ombudsman Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva emphasized that child's right to live and be raised in family is fundamental. "Our goal is to ensure that no child in Kyrgyzstan is separated from their mother and father unless absolutely necessary," she stated.

UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, Antje Grawe, noted the importance of the center's work. "Ene Uyu" embodies one of the key principles of the Convention, comprehensive support for mothers and children in vulnerable situations to keep the child in the family."

Representatives of government agencies, social services, international organizations, NGOs, and the media participated in the event. Guests learned about the center's work and discussed the child's right to live in a family, Kyrgyz traditions in supporting motherhood and childhood, and the importance of interagency cooperation in preserving families.

Participants unanimously emphasized that the family environment and parental love are the foundation of a child's well-being, and that it is important for the state and society to strengthen support for families in crisis by expanding social services and strengthening parental capacity.
