Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. The garment waste recycling factory in Mramornoe village plans to increase its processing capacity from three to eight tons per day, Askatbek Mazhitov, director of factory told media.

According to him, Bishkek has a well-developed textile industry, particularly the garment industry. On average, according to city hall statistics, the city produces approximately 50 tons of fabric scraps and waste daily.
"We have contracts with approximately 100 garment factories and purchase this sewing waste from them," said Mazhitov.
He explained that the waste is first loosened to create batting, after which the material is needle-punched, where it is converted into thermofelt. The finished thermofelt is shipped in rolls to Kazakhstan. According to the factory director, thermofelt is currently in high demand and is used to produce mattresses, yurts, as well as for insulation and soundproofing.
Furthermore, the company has launched the production of carpets and zhaynamaz (traditional textiles) from recycled materials.

"This way, we give waste a second life. We currently process about three tons per day, but we have already purchased new equipment and want to increase the recycling capacity to eight tons," Mazhitov noted.
