Bishkek, July 10, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is expanding cooperation with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the fields of green energy, clean technologies, and hydrogen development. Academician of theKyrgyz National Academy of Sciences Asylbek Aidaraliev told at press conference in Kabar news agency, discussing the results of the 3rd SCO Academicians' Forum on Green Energy.
According to him, the forum has become an important platform for developing scientific and educational cooperation between SCO countries, as well as for discussing the prospects for the transition to sustainable energy and the implementation of modern technologies.
He noted that the 3rd International Forum of SCO Academicians on Green Energy was held on July 2, 2026, in Bishkek, organized by the International University of Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences, and Xi'an Jiaotong University (China).
"The forum focused on the development of renewable energy sources, energy transition, the implementation of green technologies, improving the regulatory framework, attracting investment, and expanding international partnerships.
One of the main events was the presentation of a collective research monograph, "Green Energy in the SCO Countries: Strategies, Regulation, and Prospects." The work brought together the research of scientists and experts from SCO countries and focused on modern approaches to the development of clean energy," Aidaraliev said.
Furthermore, he noted, projects to establish a joint clean energy and energy storage laboratory at the International University of Kyrgyzstan as part of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative were presented at the forum.
A demonstration center for training specialists in energy conservation and energy storage using digital technologies was also unveiled.
The academician emphasized that during the scientific program, participants discussed the development of regional cooperation, personnel training for the energy sector, and mechanisms for implementing investment projects in renewable energy.
"Following the forum, scientists emphasized the need to develop a common strategic roadmap for green energy development in SCO region. They believe that combining efforts will improve energy security, address climate challenges, and ensure sustainable development in the region," Aidaraliev added.
