Bishkek, Oct. 17, 2025 /Kabar/. Seven heavy-duty trucks carrying semi-trailers loaded with lighting equipment, mechanical products, and consumer goods departed Kashgar yesterday, heading toward the Chinese-Kyrgyz border. The convoy set off after a symbolic ceremony marking the opening of the new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan multimodal route.

The logistics are as follows:

Cargo is transported from Xi'an and Chengdu to Kashgar by rail. It then travels by road to Osh, where it is reloaded onto rail platforms at the port of Turkmenbashi. From there, it can be transported via the Caspian Sea to Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

In addition to European markets, the new route will open access to South Asia and the Middle East, noted Cai Tuanjie, director of the Chinese ministry's transport service department. According to him, the project will contribute to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and stimulate the development of freight transport between participating countries.

Cargo is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan on October 21 and in Turkmenistan on October 24. The route allows for shorter delivery times, making this route promising for increasing freight traffic.

The launch of this route aims to diversify freight traffic between Central Asia and China, and between China and Europe. It is also part of the plan to develop transit capacity along the Middle Corridor.
