Belarus’ unemployment rate has hit a record low, BelTA learned from the macroeconomic review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

“The employment rate in Belarus rose to 68.1% in Q1 2026, up from 67.8% in 2025. As a result, the unemployment rate fell to 2.3%, reaching its lowest level on record,” the macroeconomic review notes.

Stronger labor demand is setting the stage for further wage growth. In March 2026, nominal wages rose by 14.4%, which, with inflation at 5.4%, translated into real wage growth of 8.5%.

“Further wage increases will support the expansion of domestic demand, boosting consumer activity in the economy,” EDB experts stated.
