Bishkek, March 17, 2026 /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov spoke at a high-level event on March 16, 2026, to mark the International Day Against Islamophobia.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, in his speech, he noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is a secular, multi-ethnic, and multi-confessional state, where Islamic cultural heritage is combined with the principles of pluralism and freedom of religion.

According to him, since independence, the country has seen a revival of religious life, and the state is paying special attention to ensuring that this process contributes to strengthening social harmony.

He emphasized that, under the leadership of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, the government consistently promotes a policy of interreligious dialogue, tolerance, and respect for cultural and religious diversity.

"For us, the fight against Islamophobia is inextricably linked to the fight against all forms of religious hatred. Discrimination against Muslims should never be tolerated. But discrimination against Christians, Jews, and followers of any other faith or belief is equally unacceptable. Today, our task is not simply to demonstrate tolerance towards each other, but to truly embrace and appreciate the richness of our diversity," the deputy chairman noted.

Edil Baisalov also touched on the situation in the Middle East, noting that President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the region, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Kyrgyz Republic calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, cease hostilities, and resume constructive dialogue in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
