First Association of Kyrgyz Students opened in Japan

Bishkek, April 18, 2025. /Kabar/. On March 15, 2025, an official opening ceremony of the Association of Kyrgyz Students in Japan was held in Tokyo, with the participation of the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Japan Erkinbek Osoev.

The Association was established by the Kyrgyz student community in Japan with the support of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Japan, the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), the University of Tsukuba and Embassy’s partners.

The purpose of establisging the Student Association is to support and integrate Kyrgyz students studying in Japanese educational institutions, to promote cultural and academic exchange, and to help with adaptation to life in Japan.

A total of 44 people participated in the opening ceremony in person, with an additional 19 attending online. Among the guests were students from Kyrgyzstan and Japan, representatives of Japanese universities, JASSO, and partners of the Embassy.

Guests were introduced to the Kyrgyz Republic through the presentation, followed by a cultural program featuring traditional musical performances, Kyrgyz songs, and a video translation of a perfomance from the epic of “Manas”. 

Additionally, the Embassy informed the audience about Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives on the international stage, including its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
