Bishkek, Nov.18, 2025. /Kabar/. Today, the 4th hydroelectric unit of Toktogul HPP and the 2nd hydroelectric unit of Uch-Korgon HPP were put into operation, Ministry of Energy reports.
According to the information, with the commissioning of the 4th unit, the 1200 megawatt capacity of Toktogul HPP increased to 1440 megawatts after modernization. During the reconstruction of each unit, 60 megawatts were added, and total of 240 megawatts of capacity were added to the station. And with the commissioning of the 2nd unit of Uch-Korgon HPP, 9 MW of capacity was added. Previously, in 2024, the 1st unit of the HPP was completely replaced, adding 9 MW of capacity. Now it is planned to reconstruct the remaining two hydroelectric units of the HPP in 2026. After replacing total of four hydropower units, the total capacity of the hydroelectric power plant will be increased by 36 MW.
It should be noted that the main goal of the modernization of hydroelectric power plants is to increase their capacity.
