Jogorku Kenesh, UN discuss Sustainable Development Goals

Bishkek, June 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, the Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliev, received Antje Grawe, UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties recalled that at the previous meeting they had agreed to meet regularly and discuss issues related to the development of relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations, and exchanged views on currently implemented projects and future plans.

Marlen Mamataliev noted that Kyrgyzstan is interested in close cooperation with the United Nations in all areas: "We will continue to pay special attention to implementing joint projects in various areas and developing the established partnership," he said.

The speaker also touched upon the successful implementation of the plans planned within the framework of the sustainable development goals: "Our achievements in this area are also highly appreciated by the international community. You yourself noted this and stated that Kyrgyzstan is a "champion" in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Such efforts will continue, and significant work will be done by 2030. Our head of state has also set serious tasks in this direction, and the parliament is also carrying out the necessary work," he added.

In turn, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, congratulated the deputies of Jogorku Kenesh on the election of Kyrgyzstan to the non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council, calling it as a historic victory.

At the same time, she added that UN interested in continuing cooperation with the Kyrgyz Parliament and working closely in the aforementioned areas.

At the same time, she said that the UN highly appreciates Kyrgyzstan's efforts aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, adding that special attention would be paid to further developing partnership.

Accordingly, the parties also exchanged views on certain laws and presented their proposals on them.
