Kyrgyz-Belarus interparliamentary cooperation reaches new level

Bishkek, April 21, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev held talks with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko.

According to the parliament's press service, the parties discussed the current state of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the two countries and exchanged views on the development of interparliamentary cooperation.

Marlen Mamataliev noted that Kyrgyzstan places special emphasis on developing Kyrgyz-Belarusian cooperation.

"Thanks to the political will of the two heads of state, interstate relations have reached a new level and are advancing every day. We must continue the existing cooperation within the framework of interparliamentary interaction. Parliamentary diplomacy plays a vital role in the successful implementation of the bilateral agreements reached," he said.

The speaker recalled that in 2023, the parliaments of the two countries signed an agreement aimed at developing Kyrgyz-Belarusian cooperation.

"It is necessary to further intensify bilateral ties and establish close collaboration at the level of relevant committees and parliamentary friendship groups. Furthermore, as partner countries, we propose exchanging experience in lawmaking and call for closer interaction at international venues such as the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly," he noted.

Marlen Mamataliev also emphasized the positive dynamics in the economic sphere, noting that trade turnover increased by 154.4% last year compared to the previous year. He emphasized the need to fully utilize existing potential and further strengthen trade and economic ties.

Furthermore, the speaker emphasized that developing cooperation in healthcare is also a pressing issue. He emphasized that Belarus ranks among the leading CIS countries in the provision of medical services, particularly in cancer treatment and organ transplantation.

"Considering the situation in Kyrgyzstan in the field of oncology and transplantation, I propose considering the possibility of allocating quotas for free treatment for citizens in serious condition," said Marlen Mamataliev.

For his part, Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, emphasized that Belarus attaches great importance to cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and is committed to further developing bilateral relations.

Igor Sergeyenko discussed proposals to expand trade and economic cooperation, including the creation of joint ventures.

He also recalled that the Belarusian parliament recently ratified agreements aimed at simplifying visa requirements and improving migration conditions between the two countries, emphasizing the important role of parliaments in developing cooperation.

During the conversation, the parties also discussed tourism development and initiatives to expand contacts between citizens of the two countries.
