Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. The 9th Women and Ethno-Fashion Week, organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), has opened in the Turkish capital.
According to the organization, four designers from Kyrgyzstan participated in this major cultural event, showcasing both national traditions and modern trends in Kyrgyz fashion.
The ethno-fashion show, titled "TURKSOY on the Silk Road," took place at the historic Estergon complex in Ankara’s Keçiören district.
The event was organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Keçiören Municipality.
This year, the Ethno-Fashion Week brought together 20 designers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkiye, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as from the Russian regions of Bashkortostan, Sakha (Yakutia), Tatarstan, and Tuva.
Kyrgyzstan was represented at the international show by four designers: Nurjamal Asangulova, Zalkarbek Askaraly uulu, Tatyana Vorotnikova, and Asel Kalkanova. Their participation offered another opportunity to showcase the richness of Kyrgyz national costumes, the distinctiveness of traditional patterns, and the creative potential of the country's fashion designers on an international stage.
Collections inspired by the centuries-old traditions of Turkic peoples were presented on the runway. National costumes, traditional embroidery, patterns, and artisanal techniques were reimagined through modern design. The show demonstrated not only the cultural diversity of the Turkic world but also the shared historical roots, artistic traditions, and aesthetic values of its peoples.
A performance by the renowned artist Yuliana Krivoshapkina from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) lent a special atmosphere to the evening. Her musical artistry seamlessly complemented the ethno-fashion showcase, uniting traditional music and modern fashion within a single cultural space.
