Bishkek, April 3, 2025. /Kabar /. In 2025, the city of Aktau (Kazakhstan) is the cultural capital of the Turkic world. The main events within this status will start on April 4. Representatives of Kyrgyzstan will take part in them.
The press service of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, artists, musicians and folk artisans from Kyrgyzstan have already arrived in Aktau. They will take an active part in concerts, exhibitions and master classes, which is held from April 4 to 6.
The decision to recognize Aktau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2025 was made at the 40th meeting of the member states of the international organization TURKSOY, held in Shusha (Azerbaijan) in 2024.
"Mangistau is a unique and picturesque region famous for its holy places. Previously, Astana and Turkestan were the cultural capitals of the Turkic world in Kazakhstan. I am sure that this event will be held with dignity in Aktau," TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Rayev noted at the time.
The practice of appointing cultural capitals of the Turkic world was initiated by TURKSOY with the aim of popularizing and preserving the common cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples. Each year, one of the cities of the participating countries receives this status, becoming the center of cultural events and a symbol of the unity of the Turkic peoples. In 2019, the city of Osh received this status.
