Bishkek, May 28, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz delegation took part in the Marché du Film international film market, held as part of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival in France.
According to the ministry of culture, Kyrgyzcinema national stand was presented at the event, showcasing contemporary projects from the Kyrgyz film industry, local films, and the country's international film forums.
It is noted that 2026 marked the fifth time the Kyrgyz stand was represented at the world's largest film market.
During the film market, meetings were held on international cooperation, co-production development, and the promotion of Central Asian cinema on the global market. Furthermore, the UmutDoc festival became the only documentary film festival from Central Asia presented on the Cannes Docs platform.
The films "Kara, Kyzyl, Sary," "Buyruk," "Shermendelik Karnivals," and "Mergen" were screened to an international audience.
The ministry emphasized that Kyrgyzstan's participation in the Marché du Film 2026 confirmed the growing international interest in Kyrgyz and Central Asian cinema.
