Bishkek, April 8, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Health Minister Damir Osmonov met with U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Lesslie Viguerie on Tuesday to discuss cooperation in healthcare, with a focus on digitalization and medical technologies, the ministry said.

The parties reviewed the current state and prospects of Kyrgyz-U.S. cooperation in the health sector and exchanged views on priority areas for further collaboration.

The significant contribution of the United States to the development of Kyrgyzstan’s healthcare system was noted, including support in strengthening capacity to respond to infectious disease outbreaks, advancing public health programs, and improving system resilience.

The U.S. side presented proposals for expanding cooperation, including transitioning to new formats of interaction. Particular attention was paid to ensuring the continuity of ongoing projects and developing coordinated approaches for their further implementation.

The sides also discussed opportunities to broaden engagement with international and private companies in the areas of medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare infrastructure.

Both parties reaffirmed their interest in continuing constructive dialogue and strengthening cooperation aimed at improving Kyrgyzstan’s healthcare system.
