Bishkek, Jan. 20, 2025. / Kabar /. As part of a working visit to Budapest (Hungary), Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev took part in the III Kyrgyz-Hungarian Agroforum.
In his speech, Bakyt Torobaev noted that over the past three years, under the leadership of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, radical political and economic reforms have been carried out in Kyrgyzstan, which has led to an increase in the gross domestic product and the state budget. He also noted the comprehensive support provided to investors, calling on Hungarian entrepreneurs to actively work in Kyrgyzstan.
"Our new economic policy is based on three key areas: agriculture, energy, transport and transit. Kyrgyzstan, located at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road, has unique geographical advantages. We are actively developing transport corridors and logistics infrastructure to connect China, Central, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. To this end, together with Chinese and Uzbek partners, we have already begun construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. We consider Hungary a reliable partner with extensive experience in agricultural technology and processing of agricultural products, improving plant varieties, and developing small and medium-sized farms," said Deputy Bakyt Torobaev.
The main goal of the forum was to discuss the prospects for cooperation between agricultural companies in Hungary and Kyrgyzstan, as well as to establish business contacts.
The forum was attended by large Hungarian companies specializing in modern solutions for agriculture. Representatives of government agencies and companies operating in the agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan presented reports on the country's investment potential. During the discussion, the parties spoke about their innovative solutions in increasing crop yields, improving irrigation technologies, processing products and maintaining environmentally friendly sustainable agriculture.
Following the results of the agroforum, a number of bilateral documents were signed between companies from Kyrgyzstan and Hungary:
- Memorandum of Cooperation between Kyrgyz Agroholding OJSC and Umvelt Group LLC in the field of agriculture;
- Memorandum of Cooperation between Kyrgyz Agroholding OJSC and L.A.C. Zrt Holding;
- Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the National Association of Employers and Industrial Workers of Hungary and the Association of Legal Entities "Association for the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Kyrgyz Republic".
The agroforum, aimed at innovative technologies, investment opportunities, export potential and the implementation of joint projects, is planned to be held annually.
