Kyrgyzstan is our strategic partner and ally, and Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation, based on long history, mutual respect, and trust, is multifaceted and distinguished by shared approach to regional and global issues and a focus on developing Eurasian integration processes, stated Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk during the 26th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian intergovernmental commission.
He noted that Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan's most important trading partners. "In January-August 2025, our trade turnover increased, according to our data, by 15.1%, reaching $3 billion. Our trade and economic cooperation is carried out with the maximum use of national currencies in mutual settlements. In the first eight months of 2025, the share of Russian ruble in mutual settlements reached 96.7%," he reported. Alexey Overchuk emphasized that investment cooperation between the countries is also actively developing.
"The Russian Federation is one of the largest investors in your country's economy. The volume of accumulated Russian direct investment at the end of 2024 amounted to $1.21 billion, representing 6.9% of Kyrgyzstan's GDP. As of September 1, 2025, there were 1,823 enterprises with Russian participation, or 32% of all enterprises with foreign capital," he reported.
