Bishkek, May 14, 2026. /Kabar/. During a raid organized on May 13, 2,100 meters of synthetic nets were removed from the bottom of Issyk-Kul lake, the Ecological and Technical Supervision Service reports.
According to the information, such nets pose a serious threat to the lake's ecosystem. Even if they remain in the water, they continue to kill fish and other aquatic organisms, disrupting the biological balance. In addition, synthetic materials do not decompose for decades, worsening water quality and polluting the environment.
As noted, since the beginning of 2026, the Issyk-Kul regional department of the ecological service has removed a total of 23,100 meters of synthetic nets and 760 kilograms of garbage from the bottom of the lake.
Currently, raids are being carried out on a regular basis to combat poaching and ensure the ecological security of Issyk-Kul.
