Kyrgyz speaker met with President of Kazakhstan

Bishkek, June 12, 2026 /Kabar/. Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev on June 12, as part of his official visit to Kazakhstan.

According to the Jogorku Kenesh, during the meeting, the parties discussed expanding political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, including the development of interparliamentary interaction.

At the beginning of the meeting, Marlen Mamataliev conveyed greetings from Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. He noted that the Kyrgyz side supports reforms aimed at building a new Kazakhstan under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and emphasized the significance of the recent political transformations in the country.

Kyrgyz speaker also noted that interstate relations have been actively developing in recent years, with bilateral meetings held regularly. He stated that the agreements reached will form the basis for further expanding cooperation and strengthening the fraternal relations between the peoples of the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary diplomacy. Marlen Mamataliev noted that the parliaments of the two countries actively interact and regularly hold joint events.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation were also discussed during the meeting. In particular, the speaker of Jogorku Kenesh proposed naming one of the central streets of Astana after the statesman Zhusup Abdrakhmanov.

In turn, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of Marlen Mamataliev's first official visit and expressed confidence that it would give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is a close neighbor, a fraternal state, and a reliable partner for Kazakhstan, noting the historical affinity between the two peoples.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also noted the positive dynamics of Kyrgyzstan's economic development. He added that the election of Kyrgyz Republic as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council was a significant event for the entire region.

Following the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the further development of interparliamentary cooperation, legislative support for the agreements reached, and socioeconomic reforms in the two countries.

The parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen the strategic partnership and allied relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
