Bishkek, April 24, 2025. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev successfully completed his participation in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held in Washington.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the work resulted in the signing of a number of important agreements aimed at attracting investments to key sectors of the country's economy.
The total amount of funds raised will allow the implementation of projects aimed at regional development, healthcare modernization, access to clean water, support for small and medium-sized businesses, improvement of the education system and renewal of energy infrastructure.
The total investment volume (excluding the potential emergency response mechanism) is USD 389.31 million. The largest projects are related to water supply and sanitation, as well as the development of financial markets for small and medium-sized businesses. Significant funds have also been allocated for the construction of power lines and substations.
The main areas of cooperation, as set out in the signed agreements:
Regional development: Additional funding will be received for the project "Regional economic development in the Osh region and the city of Osh", aimed at supporting local initiatives and increasing the competitiveness of the region.
Healthcare: The implementation of the Primary Health Care Quality Improvement Program, aimed at creating and strengthening key elements of the healthcare system, will continue.
Water: The Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation Phase 1 program will provide access to clean drinking water and improved sanitation to residents of 126 settlements in the Issyk-Kul, Osh and Chui regions.
Support for small and medium businesses: The Development of Sustainable Financial Markets for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Kyrgyz Republic project (budget: US$120 million) will create favorable conditions for the development of “green” financing and provide preferential loans and guarantees for entrepreneurs.
Emergency Preparedness: An agreement on the implementation of a rapid response mechanism will allow the Kyrgyz Republic to quickly mobilize funds to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations.
Education: The Improving Access to and Quality of Inclusive Education for All Children in the Kyrgyz Republic project (budget: US$25 million) will ensure equitable access to quality inclusive education.
Energy: The implementation of the project "Construction of the 220 kV Tamga-Karakol power transmission line and substations in the Issyk-Kul region" (budget of USD 58.25 million) will improve the power supply of the Issyk-Kul region.
Agriculture: Work will continue to promote the mechanization of agriculture (budget of USD 45.11 million), which will increase the productivity and efficiency of farmers.
