Kyrgyzstan, Belarus to increase trade turnover up 500 million USD

Bishkek, Sept 29, 2025 /Kabar/. Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyz Republic, held talks with Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin in an expanded format, Cabinet of Ministers reports.

Adylbek Kasymaliev expressed gratitude to Alexander Turchin for his hospitality and warm welcome, adding that traditional friendship, centuries-old ties, and the shared memory of a heroic past underlie Kyrgyz-Belarusian relations.

It is noted that over 50 bilateral international treaties and documents have been concluded between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Belarus. The core document is the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, signed on November 27, 2006.

Head of the Cabinet emphasized that trade and economic ties between the two countries have significantly intensified in recent years. According to Kyrgyz data, trade turnover amounted to approximately $133 million at the end of last year. From January to June 2025, it amounted to $68 million, including $22 million in exports and $46 million in imports. We have once again confirmed our goal of increasing mutual trade turnover to $500 million over the next five years. The Kyrgyz side is ready to make every effort to achieve this goal. I would like to specifically note the importance of Trade and Economic Cooperation Roadmap Development - 2030 – it is designed to ensure the systematic achievement of target indicators, he said.

In his speech, Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that industrial cooperation is one of the key and most promising areas of cooperation. In this context, he expressed interest in establishing agricultural machinery assembly plants in Kyrgyzstan. Furthermore, they expressed interest in further exchanging experiences and practices in animal breeding and veterinary medicine, as well as developing cooperation in tourism. He stated that the planned Action Plan for Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation for 2025–2027 will serve as the basis for continued cultural cooperation. Interregional cooperation is another pressing area.

In turn, Alexander Turchin noted that the first visit by Head of the Cabinet to Belarus in 24 years is a significant event, adding that the two countries have a long-term partnership based on friendship and respect. He stated that trade and economic cooperation are the core of this partnership. Prime Minister of Belarus expressed Belarus's readiness to increase trade turnover between the two countries to half a billion US dollars.

During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties, developing joint investment projects, and collaborating in industry, agriculture, transport, and innovative technologies. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of current agreements and the potential for expanding the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

Following the talks, the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached during the official visit would provide a solid foundation for continuing fruitful dialogue and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
