Kyrgyzstan commissions 36 social facilities, 74 more to complete

Bishkek, May 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Zhyrgalbek Medetkanov, Deputy Director of the housing and civil construction department under the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services, told Birinchi Radio that construction is currently underway on 36 new facilities, including additional and educational buildings in three cities: 20 in Bishkek, 10 in Osh, and 6 in Manas.

"Construction work at these facilities is in full swing, with work being carried out in two shifts. Each facility is under special monitoring. With timely and full funding, we plan to complete construction of all 36 facilities by the new academic year," he emphasized.

According to him, construction and major renovations have been completed on 36 facilities since the beginning of the year. These include 19 schools, 5 kindergartens, 4 healthcare facilities, 2 cultural facilities, 1 sports facility, 3 administrative buildings, and 2 water supply facilities.

Medetkanov also reported that another 74 facilities are scheduled to be completed by Independence Day, August 31. Of these, 57 are under construction: 31 schools, 9 kindergartens, 7 sports facilities, 2 healthcare facilities, 3 facilities under the Taza Suu project, and 5 other administrative buildings. He added that 17 other major renovation projects are also scheduled for completion, including 12 schools, 1 kindergarten, 2 healthcare facilities, 1 Taza Suu facility, and 1 administrative building.

"While 1.8 billion soms were previously allocated annually for these purposes, today 7 billion soms have been allocated. At the same time, the number of projects being commissioned is also growing. While around 100 projects were previously completed annually, in 2025, the Ministry of Construction completed 291 projects, more than 100 of which were schools. We plan to complete even more projects this year," Medetkanov concluded.
