Bishkek, July 17, 2026 /Kabar/. The 17th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held under the chairmanship of Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, and Lin Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce of China and Deputy Representative of China for International Trade Negotiations.
Speaking at the meeting, Erlist Akunbekov noted the particular significance of holding the commission's meeting in Bishkek ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the state visit of the Chinese leadership to Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, today's meeting serves as a key mechanism for aligning positions, coordinating further joint actions, and promptly resolving pressing issues included in the agenda of upcoming events.
"Thanks to the political will and personal support of our heads of state, we have begun implementing such large-scale projects as the construction of the Kyrgyzstan-China-Uzbekistan railway." The third border crossing point, "Bedel," has opened, and construction has begun on the Barskoon-Bedel-Uchturfan-Aksu highway. Trade and economic cooperation between our countries is developing dynamically. I am confident that today's meeting will give new impetus to the implementation of joint projects and the further deepening of trade and economic cooperation," the Deputy chairman emphasized.
In turn, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Lin Ji stated that the Chinese side is interested in further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. He expressed confidence that the issues discussed during the current meeting, as well as the agreements reached, will give new impetus to the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The meeting agenda included issues of further strengthening trade and economic relations, developing transport and logistics ties, and cooperation in energy, industry, agriculture, finance, and other key sectors. Representatives of relevant government agencies and departments from both countries delivered reports on these areas. Following the meeting, the parties signed a corresponding protocol.
