Bishkek, April 3, 2025. /Kabar/. On April 2, 2025, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Sydykov discussed with analysts of the international rating agency Fitch Ratings Inc. the issues of assigning a sovereign credit rating to the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Economy Ministry said.
During the meeting, the main indicators of the socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic, the reforms carried out and the strategic priorities of economic policy were presented.
Particular attention was paid to key reforms aimed at attracting investment, modernizing infrastructure and improving the business climate. Among them are the introduction of digital tools in public administration, active development of industrial potential, tax breaks for strategic industries and improving legal regulation to protect the interests of investors.
Bakyt Sydykov noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic is consistently implementing measures to ensure macroeconomic stability, social protection of the population and the development of a competitive environment. This contributes to the formation of favorable conditions for business, expansion of export opportunities and strengthening of the country's financial system.
He noted that cooperation with the Fitch rating agency will contribute to further strengthening of the international image of the Kyrgyz Republic and increase of its investment attractiveness. He expressed hope for objective monitoring of the country's rating and continuation of productive interaction with the agency.
During the visit, Fitch analysts held meetings with representatives of ministries and departments, and also received detailed information on macroeconomic indicators, structural reforms in the field of digital development, trade and economic relations and attraction of foreign investment. Special attention was paid to issues of subsoil use and energy as key sectors of the Kyrgyz economy.
Agency representatives also plan to meet with international financial institutions, which will allow to form a comprehensive assessment of the economic situation in the country.
On September 10, 2024, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic signed an agreement with the Fitch rating agency, which was an important step towards international recognition of the sustainability of the country's economy. A positive assessment of Kyrgyzstan's sovereign credit rating will increase the confidence of international investors, facilitate the country's access to international financial markets, reduce the cost of borrowing and create additional opportunities for attracting long-term capital to the country's economy. It will also contribute to strengthening the business climate and creating new jobs.
