Bishkek, March 3, 2026 /Kabar/. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has issued a clarification regarding a recent publication in the Financial Times that mentioned a possible legal action against the European Union in connection with sanctions.
According to the Cabinet, a hypothetical scenario concerning potential sanctions was discussed during an interview with First Deputy Cabinet head Daniyar Amangeldiev. However, the government emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic does not intend and is not planning to initiate any legal proceedings against the European Union.
“The position of the Kyrgyz Republic remains consistent and unchanged. The Kyrgyz Republic acts in full compliance with national legislation, its international obligations, and international law. Issues related to export control and compliance with sanctions regimes are addressed through coordination and dialogue with international partners.
In contacts with representatives of the European Union, discussions focus on procedural transparency, information exchange, and further strengthening of regulatory mechanisms. Judicial or confrontational measures are not part of our approach,” the statement said.
The Cabinet of Ministers underscored that the Kyrgyz Republic remains committed to constructive partnership with the European Union and to resolving any emerging issues within established legal and diplomatic frameworks.
The government reiterated that Kyrgyzstan neither intends nor is preparing to file any legal claims against the EU in connection with sanctions imposed on Russia.
