Bishkek, July 15, 2026. /Kabar/. The Naryn State Nature Reserve's red deer nursery has been further expanded and fenced over an area of 32 hectares. This brings the total fenced area of the nursery to 82 hectares. The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision reports.
Currently, the total area of the Naryn State Nature Reserve is 112,363.5 hectares.
According to the ministry, 26 mammal species, 104 bird species, 3 fish species, 1 amphibian species, and 4 reptile species have been recorded within the reserve.
The reserve is home to rare animals listed in the Red Data Book of Kyrgyz Republic, including the snow leopard, lynx, Pallas's cat, Tien Shan brown bear, marten, red deer, and argali. Rare bird species also occur here, including the golden eagle, saker falcon, bearded vulture, griffon vulture, kumai, Nauman's buzzard, peregrine falcon, little eagle, eagle owl, and ibisbill.
Furthermore, over 500 plant species grow within the reserve, including valuable medicinal species such as golden root, aconite (worshipper), bryophytes, and oregano.
The ministry noted that the red deer nursery plays an important role in preserving and restoring the red deer population. Nine deer raised at the nursery were first transferred to the Avletim Forestry in the Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region in 2018.
