Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. Minister of Finance Ruslan Suynaliev met with Hammad Zafar Hundal, Head of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Regional Hub in Almaty.
According to the finance ministry, during the meeting, discussions focused on the Islamic Development Bank's ongoing projects in Kyrgyzstan, the financing of a joint project with the State Mortgage Company, and the further expansion and strengthening of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Bank.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of the currency to be used for financing the joint project with the State Mortgage Company. The Kyrgyz side emphasized the importance of retaining the US dollar for project financing and resolving this matter promptly to ensure the project's timely launch.
The parties also discussed the possibility of developing and concluding a framework agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the Islamic Development Bank. It was noted that such a mechanism would enhance the predictability of financing, define priority areas for cooperation, and accelerate the implementation of investment projects.
Furthermore, they parties focused on the preparation of new cooperation strategy between Kyrgyzstan and the Islamic Development Bank. Current strategy expires in 2027, new strategic document to take into account Kyrgyzstan's development priorities through 2030. It was noted that this document would cover areas such as industrialization, transport and logistics infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and "green" energy.
Minister of Finance Ruslan Suinaliev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan highly values the long-standing support of the Islamic Development Bank and is interested in developing a systematic, long-term partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation, accelerate the implementation of ongoing projects, and advance new initiatives aimed at the socio-economic development of Kyrgyz Republic.
Finally, the Minister of Finance invited representatives of the Islamic Development Bank to attend the upcoming meeting of the Arab Coordination Group, scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan in March 2027.
