Bishkek, April 9, 2025. /Kabar/. A reception was held in New York on April 7, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN, on the occasion of the official launch of the campaign to promote the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev.
In his welcoming speech, Kulubaev outlined the key priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of work in the non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council, emphasizing the country's commitment to strengthening international peace and security, preventive diplomacy and mediation, as well as promoting and protecting the interests of developing, mountainous, least developed and small island states. He also assured that Kyrgyzstan will continue its efforts to disarm and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The event was attended by representatives of the UN and its agencies, as well as more than 150 member states of the Organization. At the reception, the guests tasted national cuisine and enjoyed Kyrgyz folklore compositions. This allowed them to get to know the rich culture and traditions of the Kyrgyz people better.
The reception at the UN became an important milestone, marking the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic to make a significant contribution to solving global challenges and actively participate in the work of the UN Security Council.
