Bishkek, May 9, 2026 /Kabar/. The names of the heroes are inscribed in gold letters in the history of the Great Patriotic War and will forever remain in the people's memory. This was stated by President Sadyr Zhaparov, speaking in honor of the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory.
"In this bloody war, Kyrgyzstan lost one in four of the residents—360,000 of the republic's finest sons went to the front. Having endured the fire of battle in Europe and then in Asia, they made an invaluable contribution to ending World War II. More than 110,000 of our compatriots, worthy descendants of Manas, died heroically on the battlefield, giving their lives for the bright future of future generations. This figure is a reminder of the colossal demographic loss suffered by Kyrgyzstan," the head of state noted. Sadyr Zhaparov added that more than 150,000 Kyrgyzstanis were awarded orders and medals for bravery in battles against the Nazi invaders, 22 compatriots became full holders of the Order of Glory, and 73 were awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
