Kyrgyzstan sees shortage of teachers mainly in STEM

Bishkek, Aug. 26, 2025 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has distributed 1,222 graduates to all schools in the republic, Deputy Minister of Education of the country Nadira Dzhusupbekova told at a press conference at the Kabar Agency.

She said that at the end of the last academic year, the shortage of teachers was 947 teachers. "This year, we have distributed 1,222 graduates to all schools in the districts and cities of the country. In September, we will contact each city and school, and there will be fresh data," Dzhusupbekova added.

The deputy minister noted that the shortage of teachers is mainly observed in STEM and some subjects. "Bishkek is leading in the issue of teacher shortages because they go to private schools. We understand these reasons and are taking measures. Often there is a shortage of teachers in mathematics, Russian language, history," Dzhusupbekova said.
