Bishkek, July 13, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is doubling the staff of its permanent mission to the US in New York and sending an additional team of specialists. Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev told media.

According to him, such measures are necessary to ensure high-quality preparation for the country's work in the United Nations Security Council.

According to the minister, 9 diplomats currently work in the permanent mission, and their number will increase to 18 in the near future. In addition, 10 more employees will be sent to New York to strengthen the team.

A group of Kyrgyz diplomats will soon leave for the United States for special training in order to effectively fulfill their new duties. This training program is organized for countries that have recently joined the UN Security Council. As part of it, diplomats will receive information on the working procedures of committees and key issues on the international agenda.

“Currently, our diplomats are carefully studying documents and deeply analyzing materials. We need to understand each issue from the bottom up. For example, what is the essence of the problem and what are the causes of conflicts. Only after a thorough study of the issues will the country form its position on supporting or not supporting certain initiatives,” explained Jeenbek Kulubaev.

Such thorough preparation is due to the start of full-fledged work of Kyrgyzstan with all 5 permanent and 10 non-permanent members of the UN Security Council from January 1, 2027. At the same time, interest in Kyrgyzstan in the international community is already growing.

“We expect an increase in multilateral consultations with Asian and African countries. Their representatives are turning to us with the aim of raising their regional problems on the UN platform. This is a useful experience for Kyrgyzstan, because these countries trust our new opportunities in the Security Council. During the election campaign, we expressed our readiness to promote their interests at the highest international level, and now we are fulfilling those promises,” the minister said.
