Bishkek, Nov. 2, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has been developed a program focused on the rational use of pastures, the restoration of degraded lands, and the strengthening of the fodder base for livestock farming. Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reports.

According to the data, there are nearly 10 million hectares of pastureland across the republic, 180,000 hectares of which have undergone degradation.

The pasture restoration program includes sowing grass seeds on unproductive land, controlling weeds that livestock do not consume, and implementing rotational grazing (sequential use of pastures).

In this regard, the condition of pastures in the Issyk-Kul region was monitored, and Ilich Marsbek uulu, First Deputy Minister, reviewed the measures currently being taken. Grass seeds were sown using mechanized methods on degraded land within the pastures near the villages of Sary-Bulung and Yntymak in Tup district.

Furthermore, the issue of the effective utilization of pastures in the Tup district, specifically the Chymyndy-Sai, Charkuduk, and Dongolok-Saz summer pastures, which cover a total area of 12,000 hectares was addressed.

There are plans to relocate the 97 pasture users who have traditionally utilized these areas to the Sary-Jaz summer pasture, starting in 2027. This measure is intended to bring pastures that have remained unused for 30 years back into agricultural circulation and to reduce the pressure on pastures located closer to the villages.
