Bishkek, April 14, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of his working visit to Washington, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Antonella Bassani, WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia.
The meeting was held within the framework of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
During the conversation, Adylbek Kasymaliev provided information on the country's economic growth rate. He noted that the average annual GDP growth rate over the past four years was 10.2%, and by the end of 2025 this figure will reach 11.1%. According to IMF, Kyrgyzstan is among the top three countries in the world in terms of real GDP growth in 2024.
According to the chairman, this dynamics is due not only to growth in industry, construction and services, but also to the implementation of large-scale infrastructure initiatives. In particular, the launch of trans-border mega-projects: the construction of the Kambarata-1 HPP and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway has been a major impetus for the economy. Adylbek Kasymaliev thanked World Bank for its significant success and support in promoting the Kambarata-1 HPP.

The parties placed particular emphasis on social reconstruction. Chairman discussed the results of labor legislation reform.
“With the adoption of the new Labor Code in 2025, economic opportunities for women in Kyrgyzstan have expanded,” he noted.
Adylbek Kasymaliev reported that in 2025, production volumes increased by 30.1%, and there was strong growth in the food processing sector. In order to further transform smallholder farms and enter the global market, the chairman expressed Kyrgyzstan’s official interest in joining the World Bank’s AgriConnect initiative. The project aims to strengthen food security and integrate the country’s agricultural sector into global supply chains.
Antonella Bassani, in turn, highly appreciated the ongoing structural reforms and confirmed the World Bank’s readiness to provide further expert and financial support to Kyrgyzstan’s strategic initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the “REMIT” Project Agreement and the Framework Agreement on the Financing Plan for 2026-2028 were signed between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association.
