Bishkek, Feb. 6, 2026. /Kabar/. Migrants in Batken are returning to their homeland and developing their businesses through Mekenim (homeland) 1+1 program, Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration reports.
Today, Minister of Labor Kanat Sagynbaev met with a participant of pilot Mekenim 1+1 program in Batken and visited his business. The program is aimed at supporting labor migrants and their families who want to invest their earnings abroad in business and long-term projects in Kyrgyzstan.
Mekenim 1+1 mechanism provides for grant assistance with an equal contribution from the migrant. The funds will be directed to business development in the light industry, tourism, education, IT, manufacturing, transport and logistics sectors.
Today, 59 migrants have received grants and are developing small and medium-sized businesses.
Azatbek Zairbekov opens "Bon Expresso" coffee shop. He invested 500 thousand soms of his own funds, received 206 thousand soms in grants, and earns an average of 9 thousand soms per day.
Kanat Sagynbaev noted that the program is effective in creating jobs, strengthening the economy, and supporting entrepreneurship.
38 people in the Batken region participated in the project, which demonstrates high confidence in the program and the entrepreneurial potential of the region.
