Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic warned Kyrgyz citizens against traveling to Iran and advised them on how to leave the country for Kyrgyz citizens currently in the country.
"Currently, most international airlines have reduced or temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran, with frequent schedule changes. If departure by air is not possible, land travel through neighboring countries is possible," the ministry explained.
It is noted that citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic can enter Armenia and Turkey visa-free.
To enter Turkmenistan, please contact the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkmenistan in advance for assistance in obtaining an entry permit and transit visa.
It is stated that as of January 16, 2026, checkpoints on Iran's state border with Afghanistan and Iraq are open. If you decide to enter these countries, you must apply for visas in advance at the relevant diplomatic missions of these countries.
Ministry recommends considering alternative exit routes, but notes that Iran's land borders with Pakistan and Azerbaijan are currently closed.
Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic requiring assistance leaving Iran are advised to submit the following information to the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Iran or the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic:
- Last name, first name, patronymic, and contact information;
- Photograph of the passport page containing biographical information;
- Proposed border crossing point.
Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic planning to travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran in the near future are advised to refrain from visiting the country until the situation has fully stabilized.
