Mongolian film week opens in Bishkek

Bishkek, June 10, 2026. /Kabar/. The opening ceremony of Mongolian Film Week took place in Bishkek.

The event aims to develop cultural cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, as well as strengthen friendly ties between the two peoples.

The opening ceremony was attended by Talantbek Tolobekov, Director of the Department of Cinematography under the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy; Demchig Tegshjargal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Kyrgyzstan; and Orgilmaa Bat-Erdene, head of the department of international relations and cooperation of the National Film Council of Mongolia.

Speaking at the ceremony, participants emphasized the importance of further expanding cultural interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, noting the special role of cinema as an effective tool for strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.

Film screenings will be held in the main hall of the Ala-Too Cinema from June 9 to 12, 2026.

Mongolian Film Week offers Kyrgyz audiences the opportunity to know more about contemporary Mongolian cinema, reflecting national culture, traditions, and current social processes.

The program includes films by renowned Mongolian directors that have received recognition at international film festivals.

Screening schedule:

* "Horizon" by Batdelger Byambasuren. The opening film of Mongolian Film Week.

* "Silent City Driver" by Sengedorj Janchivdorj. The film won several awards, including Best Director and Best Actor.

* "City of Wind" by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir. A drama about the life of a young shaman. The film was screened in the Horizons program at the Venice Film Festival and was Mongolia's nominee for an Oscar.
