On March 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), UzA reported.
The discussions focused on key issues related to expanding multilateral partnership within the framework of this influential organization.
The importance of strengthening practical cooperation in addressing common challenges and threats to stability and security was emphasized, along with further deepening collaboration based on the principles of good-neighborliness, trust, and partnership.
Special attention was given to continuing the modernization of the SCO’s activities, a process initiated at the Samarkand Summit, including improving the efficiency of all structures within the Organization.
The necessity of implementing the Concept for the Development of a New Economic Dialogue and several other initiatives proposed by Uzbekistan was highlighted. These include adopting a trade facilitation agreement, an e-commerce program, an investment stimulation package, a logistics digitalization plan, the SCO Future Technologies program, the Food Security Atlas, and other key projects.
Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming SCO summit in Tianjin, China.
