Bishkek, March 13, 2025. /Kabar/. An extended meeting with the participation of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as heads of ministries and departments of the two countries is held in Bishkek.
During the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the development of friendly and good-neighborly relations with Tajikistan is one of the key priorities of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.
"Our countries are linked by a common history, traditions and culture. We have similar positions on most pressing regional and international issues, which creates a solid foundation for further mutually beneficial cooperation.
Thanks to joint efforts, political will and the desire of our peoples for peace and good neighborliness, we are laying a solid foundation for constructive interaction. In this context, I would like to especially note the effective work of the government commissions on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
I am confident that the signing of the border agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will be a fateful historical event that will be received with enthusiasm not only by the peoples of our countries, but also by the international community. This step will make a significant contribution to strengthening security, stability and sustainable development not only of our states, but also of the entire Central Asian region," Sadyr Zhaparov said.
He also noted that today's meeting is an excellent opportunity for a comprehensive exchange of views on current issues of Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation. "I am convinced that during the talks we will determine specific steps to expand cooperation in the political and economic spheres, as well as to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between our peoples.
I express hope that the bilateral documents that will be signed today gives new impetus to the development of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations based on the principles of mutual trust, friendship and good neighborliness," said President Sadyr Zhaparov.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasized that today is a historic day, since the issue of the state border between the two countries is finally being resolved.
