Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2025. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Imangaziev and Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sergei Vakunov held a meeting in Bishkek on Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry reported that the main topic of discussion at the meeting was the legal status of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia in the context of changes in Russian legislation.

The Kyrgyz side focused on issues related to the introduction of new rules and conditions for the entry of foreign citizens into the Russian Federation, in particular the mechanism for preliminary registration and filing an application for entry and stay in the country, as well as a reduction in the period of their temporary stay in Russia. It was noted that these changes may adversely affect the freedom of movement of working citizens of Kyrgyzstan and their family members, as well as their access to labor activity in Russia.

During the meeting, special attention was also paid to the introduction of new requirements for children of foreign citizens, including citizens of Kyrgyzstan, to pass a test on knowledge of the Russian language when they are admitted to general education organizations in Russia.

In addition, the Kyrgyz side drew the attention of the Russian side to the ongoing difficulties of citizens of Kyrgyzstan when entering Russia and the existing problems with their registration for migration purposes in the Russian Federation.

At the end of the meeting, notes from the Kyrgyz side on these issues were submitted to the Russian side for consideration, taking into account the membership of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation in the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the status of the Russian language in the Kyrgyz Republic.
