Bishkek, Jan. 23, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaking at a New Year’s reception for the diplomatic corps, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev said the modern world is undergoing a period of profound transformation marked by growing global turbulence and increasing challenges to international security.

According to him, the current system of international relations and collective security is facing serious stress amid regional conflicts, climate threats, and the rapid development of new technologies. In this context, the minister emphasized the continued relevance of international organizations, primarily the United Nations, noting that despite criticism of multilateral institutions, they remain key mechanisms for preventing global crises.

Kulubaev stressed the need to further transform the UN and enhance its effectiveness in line with changes in the global system. At the same time, he noted that reform should focus not on dismantling existing mechanisms, but on strengthening the organization’s fundamental principles, including international law and the equality of member states.

During his speech, the minister recalled that Kyrgyzstan has nominated itself for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028. Elections are scheduled for June 3 at UN Headquarters in New York. He said Kyrgyzstan intends to make every effort to secure broad international support and expressed hope for the backing of friendly states and partners.

The foreign minister emphasized that Kyrgyzstan’s election to the Security Council would send an important signal to countries that have not previously had the opportunity to be represented on this body and would give additional momentum to their engagement with the UN system.

In conclusion, Kulubaev thanked heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations for their contribution to the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, reaffirming Kyrgyzstan’s readiness for open and constructive dialogue in the interests of peace, security, and sustainable development.
