Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2025. /Kabar/. We have begun implementing a large-scale joint project to build nine Russian-language schools in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk told during the 26th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian intergovernmental commission.

He noted that construction and installation work has begun on sections of the first phase of construction in the cities of Bishkek, Batken, and Karakol.

"We expect the work to be inspected on time, and Kyrgyz schoolchildren will begin studying in the new Palaces of Knowledge on September 1, 2027. "The opportunity to speak Russian fluently and study school subjects in Russian, which is essentially the common language for all peoples and member states of the CIS, is a key to the future for the younger generation," he stated.

Overchuk emphasized that the construction of a new campus for the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is also on the cooperation agenda.

"The modernization of this university, including the renovation of its infrastructure, is important and timely. There is potential for its development and transformation into the best university not only in Kyrgyzstan, but throughout the entire educational space of Central Asia. As part of its friendly assistance, Russia is donating 651,000 copies of joint and adapted Russian language textbooks for secondary schools in the republic. More than 90% of these textbooks have already been delivered to the republic and will soon be distributed to schools," he said.

The deputy chairman reported that Russia is sending teachers to work in Kyrgyz schools and that the number of Russian teachers in Kyrgyzstan has increased 13-fold since 2019.

"This year, more than 200 of our teachers are teaching children. Thousands of Kyrgyz citizens are studying at Russian universities. For the 2025-2026 academic year, 700 places have been allocated for study in Russia, financed by our federal budget. We traditionally attach great importance to the development of medical education, the training of future doctors, and the professional development and advancement of established specialists," Overchuk stated.

He added that Russia is ready to offer Kyrgyz medical specialists additional professional education and internships at leading medical centers of the Russian Ministry of Health.
