Bishkek, April 14, 2026 /Kabar/. The delegation from education department of Gyeongnam Province (South Korea) arrived in Bishkek as part of an educational and cultural exchange program between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea.

According to the Bishkek City Hall, the delegation included 12 schoolchildren, accompanied by Kim Jeong-hee, head of the school policy department; Kim Shin-sung, chief specialist; Bae Hye-ri and Kim Gil-soo, specialists; and Im Jae-jeong, a teacher from Gimhae foreign languages high school.

On May 13, Bishkek Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva attended the official meeting with the delegation at Bishkek school No. 69. During the event, guests were briefed on the development of the Korean language at the school, international cooperation with Korean educational institutions, and student achievements.

As part of the exchange program, students from South Korea will live with Bishkek students. The main goal of the program is to exchange experiences and knowledge, and to become familiar with family values, national traditions, culture, and lifestyle of the two countries. During their stay in Kyrgyzstan, the students will have the opportunity to gain a closer understanding of Kyrgyz culture, strengthen friendships, and gain experience in intercultural communication.

It is noted that school No. 69 has been actively collaborating with the Korean Educational Center in Bishkek since 2020. Currently, 272 students study Korean at the school, taught by two local teachers and two volunteers. The students regularly take the international TOPIK exam, win prizes in competitions organized by the Korean Educational Center, and participate in educational programs and summer camps in South Korea.

Furthermore, in April 2026, Korean students and school administration visited the cities of Seoul and Gimhae in Gyeongnam Province, where they met with representatives of the education department and discussed prospects for further cooperation between the educational institutions of the two countries.
