Bishkek hosts subregional parliamentarians' meeting on gender equality

Bishkek, May 21, 2026 /Kabar/. The subregional parliamentarians' meeting is taking place in Bishkek, organized by the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) and the Asian Population and Development Association (APDA). The meeting is titled "Promoting Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Central Asia."

The event is attended by Elvira Surabaldieva, Member of Kyrgyz Parliament, Bolot Ibragimov, Vice Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament, Ulan Mamatkanov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, Chinwe Ogbonna, UNFPA Representative in Kazakhstan and Country Director for Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, Sayed Sadik, UN Women Representative in Kyrgyzstan, and Hirano Ryuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting will discuss issues of gender equality and women's empowerment in Central Asian countries.
