Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of the memorandum of cooperation, library directors of Bishkek Central Library System and the Mayakovsky Central City Public Library (St. Petersburg) held online meeting on "Libraries in the Age of Smartphones" on June 25.
According to the Bishkek City Hall, Elena Akhti, Deputy Director for Development at the Mayakovsky Central City Public Library, spoke at the event, presenting modern approaches to developing library activities in the context of digital transformation.
During the meeting, participants learned about the automation of library processes, the development of electronic resources and digital services, and innovative projects aimed at increasing the accessibility of library services for the public. Particular attention was paid to adapting libraries to modern user needs and introducing new forms of interaction with patrons.
Online meeting provided an effective platform for professional dialogue, the exchange of practical experience, and the discussion of prospects for further cooperation between library institutions in Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Following the event, the parties expressed interest in developing partnerships, organizing joint events, implementing educational programs for library specialists, and further exchanging professional experience.
The mayor's office clarified that participation in such international events contributes to the development of the library sector, the introduction of advanced technologies and modern service forms, and the improvement of the quality and accessibility of library services for the public.
