Bishkek, Feb. 2, 2026. /Kabar/. The issue of illegal landfills is a pressing problem in the country. This was stated by Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Meder Mashiev at Jogorku Kenesh's agricultural committee meeting.
He noted that the government has planned scheduled work.
"The number of illegal landfills across the country has been reduced from 411 to 290 as part of administrative-territorial reform. We are stepping up our efforts in this area. We have formalized rules for the management of landfills and are disseminating them to local governments," he said.
The minister emphasized that the issue of the landfill in Bishkek has been resolved with the construction of waste processing plant. "We plan to transport waste to this plant from throughout the Chui oblast. This way, we want to increase the plant's capacity," he added.
