CKU railway project to build three large tunnels of 12 km length

Bishkek, April 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Tunnel excavation and infrastructure preparation are currently underway as part of the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, temporary power line installation has been completed: four transformer substations have been installed, 2,095 supports have been erected, and 259 km of power lines have been laid.

Total of 192,323 kilometers of temporary roads have been constructed along the entire length of the railway.

In addition, excavation work has begun in some sections, and roadbed construction is underway. The project includes the construction of 29 tunnels with a total length of 104.83 kilometers. It is noted that underground excavation work is underway in all 29 tunnels, including eight tunnels longer than 5 kilometers.

The corridor also plans to build three large tunnels, each exceeding 12 kilometers in length:

Naryn Tunnel No. 1;

Kosh-Dobo Tunnel;

Fergana Tunnel.

The total length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will be over 530 kilometers, of which approximately 304 kilometers will pass through Kyrgyzstan.
