Criminal case Letter 75 over in Bishkek, ex Chairman found guilty

Bishkek, July 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Bishkek district court issued a verdict in criminal case concerning "Letter 75." The trial, presided over by Judge Aziret Mederov, was held behind closed doors.

According to the court's decision, former Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev, former Member of Kyrgyz Parliament Kurmankul Zulushev, and former Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu were found guilty. They were sentenced to four years' imprisonment with confiscation of property, but the judge ordered them placed on probation for three years.

Five other defendants in the case—public figure Bekbolot Talgarbekov, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Member of Parliament Aaly Karashev, former Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Emil Uzakbaev, former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kursan Asanov, and former Member of Parliament Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev were fully acquitted due to their innocence.

Kamchybekov Tashiev's lawyer, Ikramidin Aitkulov, told Kabar that he disagrees with the verdict and intends to appeal it.

As a reminder, on February 9, information circulated online and in the media that 75 citizens had appealed to President Sadyr Zhaparov and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu to immediately initiate new presidential elections. The appeal was reportedly signed by scientists, former prime ministers, former members of parliament, and public figures.
