Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2026 /Kabar/. Ala-Too Resort OJSC and Doppelmayr signed a contract for the construction of four more cable cars at the Jyrgalan resort, Ala-Too Resort OJSC reports.
The document was signed by Valery Yashin, Head of Doppelmayr's Russia and CIS Division, and Zharkynbek Maksutov, Chairman of the Board of Ala-Too Resort OJSC.
The new contract is a continuation of a large-scale project to create a modern ski resort in the Issyk-Kul region. Under the first agreement, signed last year, construction is already underway on two main cable cars. Their commissioning is scheduled for May of this year.
"According to the document signed today, four more cable cars will be built in Jyrgalan by the end of the year. Thus, by December, the total length of cable cars will be over 8 kilometers, and the length of ski trails will be 46 kilometers," the statement says.
The master plan defines the first phase of the project, which includes not only the cable cars but also all associated infrastructure.
"This year, in addition to building the ski lifts, extensive work is planned on the mountain to create a full range of services. The goal is to ensure that by December, tourists will receive a level of service comparable to that of leading global ski destinations," Yashin says.
According to company representatives, the equipment being installed at the resort is among the most advanced solutions in the industry. Doppelmayr has implemented projects in 96 countries worldwide, and a resort of this scale in Kyrgyzstan will be the company's first in the country.
Particular attention is paid not only to the quality of the ski lifts but also to the entire resort infrastructure, which is being built to a high international standard.
Despite the challenging mountain terrain and climate, the contractor is confident of meeting deadlines. About 60% of the company's projects are carried out in high-altitude areas. Doppelmayr's portfolio includes ski lift construction at altitudes up to 4,000 meters above sea level.
The company notes that it has extensive experience working in winter conditions, including laying utility corridors and delivering equipment to snow-covered areas.
"Construction in Jyrgalan is proceeding at an intensive pace, and in several areas, work is ahead of schedule. The first lifts are scheduled to be operational by the end of May, and the first phase of the project is expected to be fully completed by December of this year," Ala-Too Resort concluded.
